Welcome to the HEQUITY Project
The HEQUITY Project is a bold, transnational initiative dedicated to transforming the landscape of European higher education by embedding diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) at its core. In a time marked by global mobility and increasing migration, HEQUITY strives to ensure that migrant and refugee students are not only welcomed into academic institutions but are also fully supported, empowered, and included throughout their educational journey.
Our mission is to equip universities and higher education institutions with the tools, knowledge, and strategies needed to implement effective, sustainable, and inclusive DEI policies. Through research, training, policy development, and targeted resources, we aim to foster academic environments where all students — regardless of their background — can thrive and contribute meaningfully.
HEQUITY brings together the expertise of institutions and organizations from Turkey, Belgium, Italy, and Latvia, encouraging collaboration across academia, civil society, and policy-making bodies. Together, we are conducting in-depth research on DEI practices for migrants, developing inclusive toolkits and training programs, designing strategic frameworks for institutional change, and promoting a shared commitment to inclusive education across Europe.
